Bridge, tunnel and everyday movement.
Fixed crossings changed how Detroit and Windsor related to one another. The rail tunnel, the Ambassador Bridge and the vehicular tunnel each served different kinds of movement and made the international boundary part of ordinary transportation.
For this project, crossings help orient the visitor. They show where freight, automobiles, rail traffic and people could move between the two shores—and why border enforcement had to coexist with constant legitimate travel.
