The Detroit Tribune represented an important voice in Detroit's Black press. Its surviving issues help broaden the historical record beyond the city's major daily newspapers and illuminate community life, institutions, politics, and events from another perspective.
The Tribune adds reporting, community priorities, and language that can widen a story otherwise dominated by the major dailies.
The Library of Congress preserves digitized issues of The Detroit Tribune. This doorway opens an actual March 26, 1949 issue rather than substituting a recreated newspaper page.
