The badge did not arrive at the beginning of his story.
Summa cum laude. Football and track. Ford Apprentice School. Boxing and training others in the ring. Tool-and-die work. World War II service in the U.S. Army Air Forces.
By March 1946, those chapters were behind him. A Detroit street. A police call box. A new chapter begins.
